Originally known as Indian Rocks South Shore, this quiet beach town is one of the oldest and smallest beach communities with the longest name. It was named Indian Rocks Beach, South Shore because the tiny community wanted a separate identity from the City of Indian Rocks Beach. The Town averages only a block in width between the Gulf of Mexico and by an area known as The Narrows.

It was originally an Indian campsite and got its name from the large red rocks found along its shoreline. Its first "settlers" were a pair of Robinson Crusoe-Type brothers named Cochran. In 1883 four Cedar Key speculators sailing to St. Petersburg, stopped to explore the Island. They were fascinated by the Island's possibilities for future development and bought it from the Cochran Brothers for a nominal sum. It is said the brothers bartered their Island "for little more than a string of beads and $25.00, figuratively speaking, like the Indians of Manhattan". The region soon became a popular residential and vacation area for many prominent Tampans such as the McKay family. (Tampa Tribune)

Until a wooden turn bridge was built in 1916, a ferryboat transported pedestrians to the Island, and a barge carried horses, buggies and a few automobiles to the summer resort. In 1905 the Railroad ran a spur line from the mainland to the beach and a hotel was built, adding to the Island's popularity. The railroad spur was abandoned later, but the community continued to grow especially during the Post-World War II building boom. Eventually in 1973 the name was officially changed to the more manageable Indian Shores. Presently the town's residential quality and its assortment of shops and restaurants help visitors feel right at home and is popular from snowbirds to seabirds. Favorite local spots are the eccentric Indian Shores Coffee Company and the popular Salt Rock Grill.

We booked this property last minute, so I wondered what it would really be like. In one word, AMAZING. It was adorable and had all the amenities you could ask for!

The condo was decorated very cute and perfect for a couple or even to have an extra guest or 2. There were chairs for the beach, which was a great bonus. The courtyard was very comfortable and cozy and we utilized the fire pit, as well as the kayaks! There was plenty of goodies in the closet that we could utilize if needed, too!

All of the other renters were all very nice and made for a very comfortable environment! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and cannot wait to return!

Absolutely stunning & perfect! More than 5 stars!

Wonderful & beautiful!

Wanted to stay longer ! What an absolute beautiful perfect place ! Best vacation ever !

Will definitely return & book for longer !

October 2018 - Clean nice and quiet. Klint K

July 2018 - So in love with the cuteness of this condo. It had everything we needed and was perfect for our stay. Taylor C

July 2018 - Wake up and walk out the door to the soothing sounds of the Gulf of Mexico. This property had everything, inside and out, from beach toys, to grills, outside seating, stove and blender. Who needs a pool with the Gulf a few yards from your door. The management was quick to respond to text for even the most mundane question. The location is halfway between Honeymoon Island and Fort Desoto Park, so the some of the best beaches in the world were a short distance away. Would definitely stay here again. Frank F

July 2018 - A great place to stay just steps from ru ne beach! Laura G

June 2018 - This little gem has perfect beach access. Step from the patio, to a lush lawn, onto the sand. No stairs, dunes, or walkways to go through. Beautifully decorated, pullout couch slept great! Perfect for two or 4 that don't mind tight quarters. Cannot beat location. Christy M

May 2018 - This place is so special, the beachy decor and comfortable bed, clean linens, spotless bathroom and darling kitchen provided the perfect spot to call home for a few days. But the VIEW is what sold us and it did not disappoint!! The paddle boards and kayaks were an awesome fun touch as well as access to the fire pit and beach chairs. We are already planning our next trip here! Sarah C

May 2018 - We felt very fortunate that we were able to stay there. Only suggestion is that the mattress be replaced. A taco bed it was! Deb and Sandy K

April 2018 - Perfect getaway - we will definitely be coming back. The place was in excellent condition and we loved how close to the beach it is.

April 2018 - Perfect for us and steps away from the beach. But PLEASE provide beach towels! Amy Jo S

March 2018 - Bungalow Beach Place is just as cute in real life as in the photos. Great location. Awesome amenities like kayaks, firepit, grills, umbrellas, beach chairs and more. Great laundry facilities. We were only there 3 nights but could have stayed so much longer! We will be back! Heather G

March 2018 - Awesome beachfront place with great amenities. It’s steps from the water, which makes a perfect beach day...no worrying about parking or bathrooms or dragging lots of things to the beach. Perfect for a family with 1-2 small kids.

March 2018 - We booked this last minute and couldn’t be happier! The place was clean and had everything we were looking for. Right on the beach with a fantastic view of the Gulf. Wonderful walks on the Beach. Great places for seafood. The accommodation had all the necessities we needed for a perfect stay. The linens were provided and all the kitchen essentials. We will return for sure!!

February 2018 - I checked into BBP3 on Feb 27, & was originally scheduled to check out on March 4. I had such a wonderful time, I extended my stay 2 more evenings! The suite was very clean, & the decor was if it was designed just for me. It's super charming with that beachy/shabby chic feel. It was that "relaxing" experience I was looking for. I had the pleasure of meeting your Nanny & her super cool parents from Hell, MI. My overall experience was awesome, & plan on booking BBP3 again!

February 2018 - Bungalow Beach #3 was everything that we could have hoped for. It was perfect for our little family as right outside your door you have a BBQ and table for enjoying your meals under the Florida sunset. Just beyond that its beach. Our two little boys loved having sand so close. Also, there is a large beach cart full of sand toys that our boys absolutely loved. If we make it back to the area we will definitely be staying again at Bungalow Beach Place.

January 2018 - We really loved this little bungalow, a small studio space, perfect for two. Loved the fire pit and other amenities. Centrally located and so convenient to everything, shopping, fantastic restaurants and that beach!, perfect access! We'll be back!

July 2017 - The careful thought put into the units at this property made our stay really easy. I loved having umbrellas and a choice of kayaks, paddle boards, beach chairs available. It was extremely clean and freshly appointed with a comfortable bed (BiG DEAL for me). Having easy access to the ice machine with an ice chest right at our door was perfect for the Florida summer sun. If I were to make any suggestions, I would add more towel racks or hooks and a few more umbrellas, but I am picking at straws here. My two children and I had a wonderful time at Bungalow Beach.

July 2017 - Perfect place for 2 to stay. The complex was convenient, clean, and friendly. The walk to the beach is unbeatable.

May 2017 - This location was perfect for your trip to visit our daughter in Florida. We had all of the conveniences of having our own place at the beach. There was a small kitchen, bikes, beach gear, and a washer/dryer. We loved the quaint decor and beach cottage feel. We had coffee every morning on the beach and took the kayaks out during the day. We were able to watch the sunset from the lounge chairs provided. We will definitely be back!

January 2017 - Bungalow Beach Place never disappoints ... the owners thought of every single thing to make stays enjoyable, and the oceanfront location cannot be beat. I'd love to keep it all to myself since this is our new vacation home!

January 2017 - As property managers of this listing, Jeff & Gina's company was great in orchestrating this rental for us as first time Airbnb users. Communication was expedited and this particular property is great for families of 4 or less. Steps from the beach and very nicely decorated. Thanks again.

December 2016 - The place was amazing! Waking up steps from the beach is absolutely astonishing. The apartment is beautiful and neighborhood is quiet and serene. Will be back next year!

November 2016 - My fiance and I wanted a place on the beach for a long weekend getaway. Man, we were not disappointed! Beach Bungalow was not only renovated to a modern decor it was literally STEPS from the beach. Upon arrival it was clean and stocked with essentials (bath towels, linens, plates, utensils and a coffee pot) We had a car (which was helpful) because we went to a few restaurants, Palm Pavilion at Clearwater and Guppy's that were not in walking distance. We also were only about 45 minutes away from Busch Gardens which was a fantastic day trip for us. The beach was quiet, felt like we almost had it to ourselves. We are already discussing our next trip back. Teeming Vacation Rentals was great to work with. We forgot our parking pass on the plane and they assured us our car would be okay in the lot without it. I would highly recommend this property if you want to be close to the beach but not close to high populated areas.
